They've run the table of their three 1A Division 1 bigger school opponents, and now the Carey High School football team (3-0) is ready to open its Sawtooth Conference North Division eight-man schedule.

Carey, coming off its 40-6 non-conference victory over the host Hagerman Pirates (1-2) last Friday, will entertain the Camas County Mushers (2-1) Friday, Sept. 17 for Homecoming 2010 on the Panther field.

Opening kickoff is 7 p.m. Friday at Derrick Parke Memorial Field with the announcement of the Homecoming royalty at halftime. Carey has won 16 consecutive home grid games dating back to 2007.

Friday, Carey senior Tim Hoopes (top Panther scorer with 38 points) rushed 15 times for 94 yards including a touchdown and added another score on a 21-yard fumble return at Hagerman. And junior Charlie Rivera scored two more TDs.

Rivera's 65-yard kickoff return with 18 seconds left in the second quarter—right after Hagerman scored its only touchdown of the evening—extended Carey's lead to 26-6. And the Panther defense held Hagerman scoreless after half.

Carey outrushed Hagerman 207-43, recovered five Pirate fumbles and came up with five sacks on the night. Hoopes led all Panther defenders with 15 unassisted tackles, while junior Chance Chavez (8 tackles, 5 assists) also took down Pirates.

In its three early-season non-league games, Carey outscored Idaho City, Raft River and Hagerman by a 146-12 count. Five of the final six Panther games are Sawtooth league affairs, three at home. The Sept. 24 non-league contest in Carey against Pahranagat Valley (Nev.) is the exception.

Camas County, a Week Two winner over Jackpot (Nev.), went over .500 for the first time since 2005 Friday with a 56-20 home victory over Gooding's North Valley Academy. Camas lost 60-14 to Hansen Aug. 27. The Mushers were 3-24 in three seasons before this campaign.

The Panthers have dominated the Mushers 5-0 and have outscored the Fairfield boys 276-52 since last losing to Camas 52-6 in Carey in 2004. Two years ago at Carey's Homecoming, Carey won 54-6.
