Today’s Lesson: Banana Split 101

Campers at the Wood River Community YMCA in Ketchum test their organizational skills, patience and self-discipline Friday, Sept. 3, as they construct the biggest banana split the Wood River Valley has ever seen. The project—to build and eat an 8-foot-long linear dessert—was planned to celebrate the end of a summer filled with crafts, field trips and life lessons. “Kids were given all the tools required to make what proved to be a most unsavory mix, and then worked together without sneaking a bite to a declare it decadent perfection and joyously dive in,” said Claire Neeser, program director at the Y. The grand sendoff from camp was likely something the kids will not soon forget. Express photo by Willy Cook
