A Hailey woman has been charged with felony fraud for allegedly writing a bad check for more than $3,000.
According to a criminal complaint filed in August, Kimberly K. Stevens is accused of writing and issuing an "insufficient funds" check for $3,099 on Oct. 20, 2009. The complaint accuses Stevens of "well knowing at the time" that "she did not have funds in, or credit with the bank for payment of the check."
The complaint accuses Stevens of defrauding Kerry V. Harmon by issuing the check to a business identified as "Fragments."
Stevens was charged with the crime on Aug. 4 following an investigation by the Hailey Police Department. She was not arrested, but was issued a felony summons instead. An initial court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 13 before Blaine County Magistrate Court Judge R. Ted Israel.
Stevens is represented by Ketchum attorney Stephen D. Thompson.
Court records state that Stevens was born in 1961.
