Those of us fortunate enough to live in or visit the Wood River Valley have a wide variety of outstanding culture and entertainment options, ranging from our local theater groups, summer symphony and galleries, in addition to spectacular summer and winter recreational activities.
This summer, we have had many real treats: Garth Brooks, Itzhak Perlman, "39 Steps" at the Company of Fools, nexStage and Laughing Stock's Shakespeare programs and world-class entertainment provided by Sun Valley Company's Pavilion Series and the Summer Symphony.
Last week, I had the good fortune to see Donna Theodor's tribute to Judy Garland at the nexStage; while I did not recognize her name, ads in the Express touting her Broadway and TV performances piqued my interest. I was not disappointed; she put on a great show and is a talented world-class performer. I hope she will return so that more will have the opportunity to appreciate her talent.
Yes, it has been a great summer of entertainment and we should thank and support the organizations and individuals that provide us with the opportunity to partake in these culture events at either no cost or a fraction of big-city prices. We are indeed lucky to live in our wonderful little fantasyland.
