Hailey thinclads grab titles at Lake Walcott

Home meet at Sagewillow is Thursday

Another picture-perfect weather day greeted the Wood River High School cross country team Thursday during the three-school Minico Invitational 3.1-mile footrace.

Results weren't bad, either, for the Wolverines at Lake Walcott on a 70-degree afternoon with no wind.

Wood River won the boys' and girls' team titles paced by boys' individual winner James Paris, a senior, and runner-up times by seniors Andrew Pfeiffer and Alison Town.

Paris and Pfeiffer are ranked #7 and #9 respectively in the pre-season Idahosports.com 4A boys' poll.

Meanwhile, three Camas County runners finished Thursday's Valley Invitational. They were: 8—Brian John 20:30. 14—Airik Donohoe 21:43. 40—George Simon 25:28.

Next up is this year's home meet, the Sun Valley Invitational, to be held on Thursday, Sept. 9 at the Sagewillow complex in Elkhorn.

Hosted jointly by the Wood River and Community School teams, the Sun Valley meet will have upwards of 14 teams on the challenging and hilly 3.1-mile course that offers a true cross-country experience.
