Ketchum has its day in the sun



During the annual Wagon Days Big Hitch Parade in Ketchum on Saturday, the EhCapa Bareback Riders of Boise, top, show off their skills in riding horses without saddles or bridles. The riders control the horses with leg cues, their voices and a 1-inch-wide leather strap around the horse’s neck called an “ack rein.” Earlier in the day, a group of “dance hall girls” struts down Main Street during a performance by the Blackjack Ketchum Shootout Gang, right. Dozens of horses, many of impressive stature, pulled carriages and wagons in the parade, the largest non-motorized parade in the Northwest, below.
