Summer may be coming to an end, but that doesn't mean things stop happening in the Wood River Valley. This year, valley organizations have been working hard at making fall events and celebrations more accessible, affordable and very entertaining.

As soon as Labor Day is over, start planning for the Sir Salman Rushdie lecture presented by the Sun Valley Center for the Arts on Friday, Sept. 10, at the Sun Valley Pavilion. The lecture starts at 6 p.m. and tickets are $30 for Center members and $40 for nonmembers. For details, call 726-9491.

Caritas Chorale will present a "Starry, Starry Night" benefit dinner at Elkhorn Springs restaurant on Sunday, Sept. 12. The evening will include a raffle and Dick Brown will conduct an evening of star-studded songs. Special guest Stephen Pauley, a dark sky advocate, will have telescopic viewing of the night's sky. Tickets are $125 and raffle tickets are $25. For details, call 726-5402.

Get ready for the Sun Valley Spiritual Film Festival, which will take place Thursday, Sept. 16, through Sunday, Sept. 19, at the Sun Valley Resort. This year the festival includes a youth program at the Boiler Room at the Sun Valley Resort. In addition, the Jayanthi Raman Dance Company will be performing Shrishti, the temple dance ballet of India, at the Sun Valley Pavilion on Thursday, Sept. 16, for the opening of the festival.

The festival will include a filmmakers seminar on Friday, Sept. 17, and several filmmakers will be present throughout the weekend to introduce their films. Passes are $100, individual film tickets are $8, individual event tickets are $15 and tickets for students are $5. For tickets and more details, visit svspiritualfilmfestival.org.

The second annual Feastival will take place at Idaho BaseCamp on Friday, Sept. 17, through Sunday, Sept. 19. Located 25 miles out Trail Creek Road, Feastival is an excellent fall retreat weekend with live music, good food including a group dinner, dancing, yoga, wellness, fishing and camping at the base of Mount Borah, Idaho's tallest peak. All proceeds will benefit Idaho BaseCamp and the building of an eco-retreat center. Tickets are $40 for both nights of camping and $25 for one day, which includes a campsite for one night. For details, e-mail idahobasecamp37@gmail.com.

The Sun Valley Harvest Festival, formerly the Sun Valley Food & Wine Festival, will take place Sept. 24-26. The festival was moved to the fall to take advantage of the local harvest and the beautiful weather. The festival will focus on regional sustainable foods, wines and beers.

In addition, the event will feature cooking demonstrations by visiting regional chefs, wine and beer tastings, a culinary trade show, a restaurant walk, chef's dinners and a beer garden. For details, visit www.sunvalleyharvestfestival.com.

Looking to improve good vibes in the valley, take part in the fall Marley in the Mountains "Harvesting the Vibes" festival on Friday, Sept. 24, through Sunday, Sept. 26. Events will include Night Bocce World Championships, a reggae show with live music by Richie Spice on Saturday, Sept. 25, and snow salutations with the largest yoga group in the Rockies on Sunday, Sept. 26. On Saturday, Sept. 25, the Sun Valley Music Festival at the Sun Valley Pavilion will feature several musical acts including Paul Tillotson's Love Trio. For details, visit seats.sunvalley.com.

Other events for the fall will include the Hemingway Symposium from Thursday, Sept. 30, through Saturday, Oct.2, and the Sun Valley Jazz Jamboree, Oct. 13-17.

Finally, the Sun Valley Resort will present "Sun Valley Harvest: A Gathering of Film Festival," Oct. 22-23, as the first of many festivities planned for Sun Valley's 75th winter season opening on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 25. The first entry fee for submissions and deadline is $30 on Sept. 10, the second is $40 by Sept. 30, and the final deadline is $40 by Oct. 15.
