SV5B makes big waves in Snake River finals

Coach Brian Gallagher and 12 of the SV5B YMCA swimmers made a splash during the Snake River Long Course Championship July 30-Aug. 1 in the Boise area.

Many of the local swimmers advanced from the preliminaries to the finals, and all took pride in their performances.

Continuing her fine swimming was 13-year-old Kaedi Fry. She won the 50 backstroke in 34.88, the 100 back in 1:13.78, the 200 IM in 2:40.01, the 400 IM in 5:44.21 and the 100 breast in 1:26.69. She also placed second in the 200 backstroke.

Jennifer Ochoa, 8, recently joined SV5B and had an outstanding meet making finals and placing eighth in 100 free.

Placing fourth was the girls' 12-and-under 200 free relay consisting of Loni Unser, Ashley Dreyfus, Olivia Wentzell and Jackelyn DeLaCruz. They also took sixth in 200 medley.

The 200 free 19-and-under relay with Michael Coiner, Tayler Bates, Taylor Coiner and Elizabeth Fry placed third.

Other personal bests at Snake River Championships:

Michael Coiner, 18: 2—200 back, 4—50 back, 5—400 free and 6—100 back. Taylor Coiner, 18: 4—200 back, 5—200 IM, 8—100 free and 8—100 back.

Elizabeth Fry, 16: 3—400 IM, 4—400 free, 4—1500 free, 5—100 free, 5—100 breast and 8—50 free.

Tayler Bates, 15: 4—100 fly, 9—200 IM, 9—400 free. Brett Bosley, 16: 2—50 back, 4—800 free, 5—500 free, 11—400 free.

Kelsey Syms, 14: 3—50 back, 4—100 back, 4—50 fly, 4—200 back and 6—50 free. Loni Unser, 12: 6—100 breast, 5—50 breast.

Olivia Wentzell, 12: 3—50 free, 6—50 fly and 3—50 breast.

Jackelyn DeLaCruz, 11: 16—100 breast, 16—200 free, 17—50 breast, 18—50 back, 20—50 fly, 21—100 back, 23—50 free and 24—100 free. Jennifer Ochoa, 8: 9—50 free, 8—100 free, 9—50 breast and 11—50 back.
