Idaho State Police reported that a 25-year-old Hailey man was seriously injured Tuesday morning in a one-vehicle rollover on state Highway 75 near the Shoshone Ice Caves, south of Blaine County.

ISP identified the man as Guillermo Ruiz-Juarez. He was transported from the scene of the accident by air ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

The accident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. at milepost 90. ISP reported that Ruiz-Juarez was northbound in a 2010 Nissan Altima "when for unknown reasons his vehicle left the road on the west side of the highway, rolled and came to rest on its side in the lava field."

"Several witnesses report that they observed this vehicle driving at erratic speeds and passing other motorists just prior to the vehicle crashing," states an ISP press release. "Ruiz-Juarez was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered serious injuries."

The accident blocked highway traffic for about 30 minutes. It remained under investigation Tuesday afternoon.
