Girl injured in fall from balcony

8-year-old flown to Boise hospital


An 8-year-old Ketchum girl was flown by emergency helicopter to a Boise hospital after she fell from a second-story balcony early Monday evening in the downtown Ketchum area.

"She was transported by our ambulance in serious condition," Ketchum Fire Department Chief Mike Elle said Tuesday.

Elle said the girl suffered "multiple injuries." She was initially taken to St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center and flown from there to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.

Neither the girl's name or condition were available Tuesday afternoon.

Ketchum Police Chief Steve Harkins said the accident occurred at about 7:10 p.m. when the girl fell from the a balcony on the Mountain West Bank building at the corner of Sun Valley Road and Leadville Avenue.

The girl was looking over the railing and accidentally fell approximately 21 feet to the sidewalk," Harkins said.
