The special election to determine whether county voters support a proposed levy to help fund Blaine Manor will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3.
Voters registered in Blaine County can cast their ballots either in favor of or against a two-year $1.9 million levy on county property taxes to fund the skilled-nursing facility in Hailey.
The facility has reported an average operating loss of $600,000 per year over the past 10 years. The county has dipped into its reserves to fund the shortfall.
The levy would be collected over two years, and would cover the manor's loss until an independently-funded senior care facility, Croy Canyon Ranch, is slated to open in 2014.
Polling places and a sample ballot are available at www. co.blaine.id.us. Voters are required to show identification before casting a ballot.
