WRHS Volleyball Announces Tryouts and Clinics

Wood River High School Volleyball tryouts begin 9 a.m., Monday, Aug. 16 and run until noon. All players must have their paperwork and physicals completed to participate in tryouts. There will be a Parent/Player meeting in the DLL at the High School, 6 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 10.

On Aug. 19 and 20, WRHS volleyball players will conduct a clinic for girls, 4th-8th grades, for $30. Registration is 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 19. and the clinic runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon both days. This is a great way for players to warm up before middle school tryouts on Aug. 23. For details call Jessica Hamilton at 481-0996.

Registration open for Fall U10-U14 Soccer Program

Sawtooth United Football Club is now accepting registration for their fall 2010 Competitive Youth Soccer Program. Age groups are U10-U14, which include children who have birth dates between Aug. 1, 1996 and July 31, 2001.

Practices will begin in late August and games will begin in early September. The season runs through the end of October. Deadline for registration is Aug. 2.

7th and 8th Grade Girl's Soccer Resumes

Wood River Middle School 7th and 8th grade girl's soccer's first practice will be held 9-10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 24 at the Wood River Middle School soccer fields (north side of building).

Players must bring cleats, shin pads, athletic wear, water, proof of insurance, updated physical (physicals are warranted every two years) and a positive attitude. No experience is necessary. Mandatory ten practices before the first game, which will be Tuesday, Sept. 7. Contact Coach Brandeis Coshow at brandeiss@yahoo.com for further information.

Alison Poulsen Takes First at Regional Water Ski Championships

The America Water Ski Association's 2010 Western Regional Championships were held July 21-24 in Caldwell, Idaho.

Ketchum resident Alison Poulsen placed first among Women's 4 slalom by 11 buoys and first among all the women. Mike Hanley placed 6th in his slalom event. Other participants from Ketchum were Brad King, Gary Storey, and John Urban.
