Fine day of women’s golf at Elkhorn

40 women enjoy annual 18-hole tour

It was a beautiful Wednesday for the 16th annual "It Happens in Sun Valley" Women's Golf Invitational tournament staged at Elkhorn Golf Club on July 14.

Seventh-year tournament Chair Debbie Exley welcomed 40 players on 10 foursomes for the 18-hole tour. Format was two better balls of foursome, players divided into two flights.

Gross stroke winners were Nancy Bushell, Fletcher Olson, Deb Albright and Claudia Cline in the First Flight; and Pat Meadowcroft, Kristen O'Reilly, Deborah Sievers and Kaye Burnham in the Second Flight.

Closest-to-the-pin gift certificates from the Pioneer Saloon went to Char Sinclair (holes #3 and #6) and Fletcher Olson (holes #11 and #14).

First gross: Nancy Bushell, Fletcher Olson, Deb Albright and Claudia Cline 138-121.

First net: Sherry Marona, Char Sinclair, Patty Mathis and Lupe Sutton 157-121.

Another ace at Valley Club

The Valley Club has reported its fourth hole-in-one of the 2010 season.

On Tuesday, July 13, Dr. Bruce Kaplan aced the fourth hole of the West Nine from the Blue Tees (168 yards) using a 6-iron. Witnesses were Edward Karner, John Haskell and Bill Potter.
