Marianna Rosett was born in Transylvania, Romania. She began her piano and ballet studies at the age of 5 and made her radio and television debut in Bucharest at the age of 10 as the winner of the International Youth Festival.

Rosett studied at the Rubin Academy in Jerusalem, and received her B.S. and M.S. at the Julliard School in New York City. There she became the youngest faculty member in the school's history, teaching in the music, drama and dance departments. Rosett's performance career includes solo recitals, chamber music and the two ensembles, Mannekrianna and Skymusic.

She has performed in India, Japan, Canada, Europe and Africa, and at venues that include La Scala, Lincoln Center, the New York Shakespeare Festival and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine where she was an artist in residence. Rosett has composed for television, theater and dance. She has devoted much of her life to teaching individuals, master classes and at conservatories throughout the world. It is her belief that improvisation can be taught and that it liberates the creative energies and imagination of the performer.

Rosett will give a free performance at the Presbyterian Church of the Big Wood in Ketchum on Thursday, July 15, at 7 p.m. She will perform a concert that will celebrate the 200th anniversary of Chopin and Schumann.
