The fifth annual Silver Creek Outfitters' Fly-Fishing Film Festival & Product Fair is more than just watching men and women fish in exotic locations around the world—it's a celebration of nature, rivers and a love of the outdoors as well as catching big fish.

"I have been geeking around with the fishing film thing for awhile," said filmmaker and fly-fishing enthusiast Bryan Huskey. "It's important that as many people as possible have a connection with a river, and the more connection they have, the better rivers will be managed as a natural resource."

Huskey will present his film "Oregon Waters" among four other films. The festival will take place on Friday, July 16, at 7 p.m. at the nexStage Theatre in Ketchum with emcee Bryant Dunn. Tickets are $15. The festival will have a raffle for prizes that will include rods, reels, boots and other gear. Raffle tickets are $5. The audience will receive giveaways and the event will include appetizers and beer. Proceeds from the festival and the raffle will benefit Higher Ground, formerly Sun Valley Adaptive Sports, which will also screen a film by Mat Gershater and Whitney McNee featuring a Wounded Warrior fly-fishing camp with Silver Creek Outfitters guides. Silver Creek Outfitters has supplied Higher Ground Wounded Warrior participants with gear so veterans can continue enjoying and healing through fly-fishing.

A premiere of "Eastern Rises," a film made by the makers of "Red Gold," covers a three-week fly-fishing trip to Russia. Additional films will include "Metalhead," about steelhead fishing, and an untitled five-minute film about two women fishing on the Salmon River.

The fun at Silver Creek Outfitters will continue Saturday, July 17, with the annual Silver Creek Outfitters' product fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Silver Creek Outfitters in Ketchum with a barbecue by Apple's. The fair will include the latest fly-fishing products and clothing, and will be attended by representatives from Winston, Hardy, Smith Optics, Oakley, Scientific Anglers, Sage, Waterworks/Lamsom, Simms, Ross and, new this year, Patagonia. In addition, the fair will feature Art by Derek DeYoung from Livingston, Mont.

"There's always new stuff," said organizer John McLaughlin. "Things change with new technology. It's good to see products and ask questions."
