Bellevue's Wilma Cadavona, 57, has been powerlifting for 15 years and she recently set a personal record of 204 pounds in the bench press at the WABDL Utah State regionals.

Action took place June 19 at the "Rumble in the Rockies" competition where Cadavona set and broke Idaho state records for the Masters 54-60 division 198-pound weight class. There were 60 lifters from Wyoming, Idaho and Utah.

Coached by Joe Owens, Cadavona made consecutive lifts of 182, 192, 198 and 204 pounds to win her class. She qualified for the WABDL World Championships Nov. 16-21 at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel in Nevada.

A 21-year Wood River Valley resident originally from Kauai, Cadavona trains at High Altitude Fitness in Hailey. She has worked for five years at SkyWest Airlines in Hailey. The Idaho state champion first competed at the age of 46.
