Blaine County youngsters brought home two gold medals and landed on the podium five times during Saturday's Hershey Idaho State/South track and field meet at Madison High School in Rexburg.

Nathan Stouffer of Bellevue won the boys' 11-12 standing long jump by a fraction of an inch at 6 feet, 11.75 inches—about 10 inches farther than his state-qualifying jump during the Blaine County/Hershey meet at the Carey oval May 1.

Stouffer also placed third in the 11-12 800-meter run at 2:47.79, nearly three seconds faster than his effort during the May 1 qualifier.

In the boys' 9-10 class, Hailey's Jaren Bothwell won the 200m dash at 33.73 seconds and finished third in the 100m at 16.16 seconds.

Winners at the state level Saturday can be part of a regional team that goes to Hershey, Pa. for the North American Finals Aug. 4-8. Their times and distances are compared with regional winners and choices are made from there.

Hemingway Elementary School in Ketchum boasted the 9-10 girls' 4x100m relay runner-up squad in Payton Bacca, Sarah Galles, Clara Jenner and Madison Ferris. They improved by 3.36 seconds over their county qualifying time.

Many of Blaine County athletes at Rexburg Saturday came up with times and distances that were better than what they did at Carey and showed practice and improvement.
