RECENT RESULTS

Principal Recruiting 13, Lefty's Bar & Grill 12

Avenging a 16-1 run-rule loss to Lefty's back on June 9, Principal tightened up the league standings with its narrow victory on the upper field. It was nip-and-tuck all the way, but Lefty's pulled ahead 12-11 with a 4-run, 5-hit seventh. Sparking the rally was a leadoff double by Buffalo Rixon (3 hits, 2 runs), a single by Wendy Speth (2 hits) and an RBI single by Anthony Anderson (3 hits, HR, 3 runs, 3 RBI) followed by a one-out, 2-run double by Dave Hausmann (4 hits, 2 runs) and a two-out run-scoring single by Jeff Burrell (3 hits, 3 RBI). In the home half, Jamie Claiborn (3 hits, 2 runs) opened with a double and scored on a one-out single by Kevin Garceau. Garceau was forced at second by his daughter, Monica Garceau, but Monica ended up scoring the winning run after three straight singles by Geoff Gardner (4 hits), Sue Mulcahy (2 hits, 2 runs) and Tom Moreland (4 hits, 3 RBI). Principal: Jim Carlsen 2 hits (double) and 4 RBI). Lefty's: Kyle Rushton 2 hits (double) and Levie Smith 2 RBI.

Casino 15, KECH 0 (5 innings)

In recording the shutout, Casino limited KECH to 5 hits, 2 by Danny Maloney. The winners scored 4 runs in the first and third frames, and 7 in the fifth, and got amazing 10-for-12 production with 11 runs from their 3-4-5-6 hitters. Casino: Brenda Johnson 2 hits (double) and 3 runs, Nic Nottingham 3 doubles and 3 runs, Craig Morse 3 hits (2 doubles) and 3 runs, Sarah Bristow 2 triples and 2 runs, Wade Port 3 hits (double), Austin Bristow 2 hits.

Lefty's Bar & Grill 14, KECH 13 (6 innings—time limit)

KECH looked good in the early going with an 8-run, 11-hit first, sending 13 batters to the plate. KECH added 2 runs in the second for a 10-5 lead on a 2-run single by Shannon Flavin (3 hits, 2 runs). But Lefty's hung around and pulled ahead 12-10 with a 5-run, 7-hit third as Jeff Burrell delivered a 2-run single and Tony Mallane (2 hits, 2 runs) drove home a pair with a sacrifice fly. Nevertheless, KECH (22 hits) chipped away with single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth frames for a 13-13 deadlock. Lefty's finally scored the decisive run in the home sixth as Mallane cranked out a leadoff single, advanced on Levie Smith single and scored on the game winner by Buffalo Rixon (3 hits, double, triple, 2 runs, 2 RBI). Lefty's: Wendy Speth 2 hits, Dave Hausmann 3 hits (triple, HR), 3 runs and 2 RBI, Kathy Seal 2 hits and 2 runs, Kyle Rushton 3 hits. KECH: Danny Maloney 4 hits (triple), 2 runs and 2 RBI, Trey Knox 3 hits and 2 runs, Kirsten Swenson 2 hits (double) and 2 runs, Jeff Heincke 2 hits and 2 RBI, Tanis Reyburn 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Firefighters 19, Elevate 13

Firefighters exploded for 10 runs on 8 hits in the first inning. Elevate outscored Firefighters 13-9 the rest of the way and actually out-hit the winners 21-17 but couldn't dig out of that early hole. Firefighters: Jeff Bailey 3 hits (double, HR) and 2 runs, Keith Potter 2 doubles, Ed Binnie 2 hits and 2 runs. Elevate: Kayt Vandenberger 4 hits (double) and 2 runs, Cooper Minnis 3 hits (2 doubles) and 2 runs, Carrie Philbrick 2 hits (triple), Brad Hennessey 2 hits (double), Jodi Siegel 2 runs, Dirk Zondag 2 hits and 2 runs.
