Radford Dow Lovett (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and Gimlet, Idaho) passed away July 4, 2010, at the age of 76.
Born in Jacksonville, Fla., Rad graduated from Harvard University and later served two years as a lieutenant in the Army. In 1958, Rad joined Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner & Smith in New York City where he became president of the investment banking division. In 1978, Rad returned to his hometown of Jacksonville to manage the Lovett family business.
Rad is survived by his wife, Susan, two daughters and five sons.
All who knew Rad loved him for his gentle spirit, gracious manner, intellect and wit. Rad found the positive in all situations and encouraged others to seek the best in life.
Rad, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, enjoyed sharing his great love and knowledge of the outdoors. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. Fly-fishing the Idaho rivers brought Rad great joy.
A memorial service honoring Rad was held July 7 at Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
