Cancer survivors and their supporters in the Wood River Valley will participate this weekend in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, which celebrates survivors and raises money to save lives. The event runs from 6 p.m. tonight through Saturday, July 10, at 8 a.m. at Wood River High School in Hailey.

The Relay For Life is billed as a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and fight back against the disease.

Teams of people will camp out at the high school and will take turns walking or running around the track. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because "cancer never sleeps," the relay is an overnight event.

Relay For Life costs $10 per person. For details, visit blainecountyrelay.org.
