Diane Von Furstenberg is one of fashion's most highly esteemed designers and a historic figure in the world of women's clothing with her signature wrap dress design. Von Furstenberg will make her fifth appearance at Panache in Sun Valley for a preview of her pre-fall 2010 collection, "Metamorphosis," on Thursday, July 8, from 4-6 p.m. Ten percent of the event sales will benefit the Dream Foundation and Von Furstenberg will make a matching donation of 10 percent as well.
"Every year we give to a different charity," said Panache owner Kathy Crosson. "It's a great opportunity for Diane Von Furstenberg, and it's an honor to have her. It's very enjoyable."
Von Furstenberg will present double-breasted felted wool blazers over blush organza dresses and a leather blazers as a dinner jacket. In addition, the collection will feature cable knit sweaters that are woven with link chains, jersey tees paired with suede biker jeans and trompe l'oeil tops with jacquard tiered skirts. This fall's wrap dresses are printed in butterfly silk jersey, spun from silver tulle and sequins or topped with layers of organza leaves.
Expect to see roses brush-stroked boldly in pink and blue or abstracted in shades of gray or a glittering beetle embellished on panné velvet and flowers blooming in laser-cut chiffon. Rich navy, deep greens and black set the stage for metallic details such as foiled leaves on a jacket. Look for buckles embedded in the trim dresses. Dresses shorter in the front will reveal the knee and shrunken pants will brush the ankle.
"She's iconic," Crosson said. "It's a privilege to have her come to Sun Valley, and it's a way to give back."
