Singer-songwriter Carole King's 128-acre ranch near Stanley is back on the market, this time with a lower asking price.

The ranch, on the south bank of the Salmon River in the middle of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, is currently listed at $16 million, down from 2006's price of $19 million. The property, the secluded Robinson Bar Ranch, features a 7,300-square-foot lodge along with the owner's private residence, a caretaker's home, a recording studio and eight historic log cabins.

"This is huge for a national forest holding," said Stoney Burke, the listing agent with Hall and Hall Ranch Brokers.

Burke said the brokers are marketing the ranch as a private residence.

The ranch is accessible by a U.S. Forest Service road. Burke said the ranch was taken off the market in 2006 due to condemnation of a bridge on the road. The bridge has since been improved, and the ranch is fully accessible again.

Burke said King is selling her ranch, which has served as her primary residence since 1981, so she can spend more time with family in Los Angeles. King still maintains a condominium in Ketchum as well as homes in California and New York, but Burke said she has no plans to leave Idaho.

King, a four-time Grammy winner, is on tour with James Taylor through July. She will perform with Taylor in Ketchum on July 12. She has also been active in promoting a wilderness bill for the Boulder and White Cloud mountains that would place stronger protections on the area than would Rep. Mike Simpson's proposed bill, which is now being reviewed in Congress.
