A 50-year-old Ketchum man has been charged with felony domestic battery for allegedly injuring his wife.

James Paul Waisanen was formally charged with the crime Monday in Blaine County Magistrate Court. Judge R. Ted Israel issued a no-contact order regarding Waisanen's wife, scheduled a preliminary hearing for July 6 and set bond at $15,000.

Waisanen was released from Blaine County jail later that day after posting bond.

According to a Ketchum police report, officers responded to a private residence in Ketchum for a "welfare check" on Friday at about 10:20 a.m.

"When they arrived they made contact with the victim and noticed injuries on her face," the report states.

The report states that Waisanen, the alleged victim's husband, was arrested and transported to jail.

According to court records, Waisanen was convicted of misdemeanor domestic battery in Blaine County in 2003. He was then sentenced to five days in jail and placed on probation for two years.
