Dumpster Blaze Doused


Sun Valley firefighters extinguish a fire in a trash receptacle in Elkhorn just after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. Fire Chief Jeff Carnes said flames shot about 40 feet high, but the Fire Department responded to the call within four minutes and was quickly able to contain the blaze. Carnes said the fire was particularly dangerous due to the receptacle’s location in a wooden structure attached to a garage about 10 feet from a Ridge condominium. He said the cause of the fire is undetermined due to the extent of the damage to the receptacle’s contents. Express photo by David N. Seelig
