A 64-year-old Heyburn man has been discharged from a Boise hospital after being flown there by emergency helicopter following a motorcycle accident last Friday near Galena Summit.

The Blaine County Sheriff's Office identified the man as Robert Lee Despain Jr.

Sheriff's Lt. Jay Davis said the accident occurred at about 11:45 a.m. as Despain was northbound on state Highway 75. He said Despain lost control of the motorcycle on a curve about a mile north of the summit.

Despain was initially taken by Ketchum Fire Department ambulance to the Smiley Creek airstrip and flown from there to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.

Davis said Despain suffered possible leg and head injuries.
