Hailey's Brad Mitchell is race director of the new Dollar Mountain 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) Trail Run scheduled on the 2010 La Sportiva race calendar for Saturday, June 26.
The Euro-style mountain run starting and finishing in The Community School central lawn area is designed to test your ability to climb and descend. It is challenging and technical in places—and runners will see Dollar in a way most don't know.
Start time is 8 a.m. Saturday at The Community School "quad."
Registration is currently open and the fee is $20. Participants can register at active.com. There will be race day registration offered for $25 from 7-7:45 a.m. Saturday. Awards will be given to the top three men/women.
Mitchell said the run would not be possible without the support of The Community School, Sun Valley Company, The Elephant's Perch and the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation. Prizes are from La Sportiva, Shu's ID Running Co., DeFeet, Petzl, Headsweats, Road ID and more.
It is part of the Rhythm and Ride Bike and Music Festival, offering the non-rider a quick mountain run. Following the run, the Rhythm and Ride will just be getting under way at Sun Valley Festival Meadow.
Another La Sportiva local trail run, the Trail Creek 12k, is tentatively set for Saturday, Oct. 30.
