Colen James Pierson

On May 23, 2010, Colen James Pierson, former Renton, Wash., resident and 1979 graduate of Kentridge High School and longtime resident of Hailey, Idaho, accidentally drowned while fishing at West Magic Reservoir in Blaine County, Idaho.

Colen was born in Powell, Wyo., on May 19, 1961, to Arlen James Pierson and Patricia Grace (Moore) Stigen. He was the youngest of four children.

A celebration of life was held at West Magic Resort on Monday, May 31. A memorial was held on Tuesday, June 1, at Wood River Chapel in Hailey. A second celebration of life was held June 12 at Pat's Bar & Grill in Kent, Wash.

Colen's love for sports and the outdoors was known to all. He loved coaching youth baseball. He was an accomplished finish carpenter and has his mark on many custom homes. But his main love was for his children.

Colen is survived by his daughters, Elaina (Pierson) Westegaard of St. George, Utah, and Allysa Morgan of Yakima, Wash., and son, Jimmy Pierson of St. George, Utah; mother, Patricia (Moore) Stigen of Kent, Wash.; father Arlen James and stepmother Norma Pierson of Pocatello, Idaho; sisters Gay (Pierson) Boyer of Kent, Wash., Arlena Pierson of Kent, Wash., and Carrie (Pierson) Williams of Yelm, Wash.; stepbrothers Rodney Houck of Seattle and Vernell Stigen of Maple Valley, Wash., and stepsister Rebecca Stigen of Shevlin, Minn; one uncle, two aunts, 10 nieces, one nephew, six great-nieces, four great-nephews, five cousins and many, many friends. The family is asking in lieu of flowers that donations be made to your favorite wildlife charity or youth sports.

Arrangements are under the care of Wood River Chapel of Hailey, Idaho (www.woodriverchapel.com).
