A Wood River High School senior who was injured in a Memorial Day weekend motorcycle accident has been removed from the critical care unit at a Boise hospital and was listed in stable condition Tuesday.
Samuel A. Schwab, 18, was flown by emergency helicopter to St. Luke's Regional Medical Center following the accident on May 28 at a motorcycle track in Croy Canyon west of Hailey. The Blaine County Sheriff's Office reported Monday that Schwab suffered two broken legs and internal injuries in the accident.
He was initially taken by Wood Rive Fire and Rescue ambulance to St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center and flown from there to Boise.
The sheriff's office further reported that Schwab is no longer in a coma.
He was unable to attend last week's graduation ceremony at the high school. In his absence, colleagues placed a large photo of Schwab in a chair among the graduating students.
