"Everyone had a good time shooting in the rain. Thank goodness we're all duck hunters!" said Matt Thornton about last weekend's Hailey-Bellevue Ducks Unlimited Fun Shoot.

The two-day, 400-target competition at Bellevue's Wood River Gun Club went off without a hitch, despite wet weather. Thirty-one shooters tried their hand at 200 handicap and 200 singles events.

On the schedule were fun shoots, raffle and silent auction items, and a Saturday night dinner. Emerging were a couple of High Overall winners, tied at 385 after 400 targets.

Dead even were Kellen Chatterton and Bradley Thomas. They settled the issue with a shootout, taken by Thomas.

The event raised over $5,000 for Ducks Unlimited, 88% of which goes back to conservation efforts like protecting wetlands, Thornton said. Donating dinner were River Run Auto Parts and Hailey Car Quest. Miller donated refreshments.

"We would like to thank everyone who donated," said Thornton.
