Pride Camp for football players starts Monday

Bright and early at WRHS

Second-year Wood River High School football coach Kevin Stilling is excited about the High School Pride Camp for young football players Monday through Wednesday, June 7-9.

"Cross the Line" is the motto of the resident camper Pride Camp. Stilling believes that learning football fundamentals and doing strength training are year-round commitments as players get older.

"The camp is for all those interested in playing football for the 2010 season," he said.

The Wolverine Football Pride Camp ($75 including meals and T-shirt) is Monday through Wednesday, June 7-9 at Wood River High. It is designed for students entering the ninth, 10th, 11th and 12th grades.

Taking place on the first week of summer vacation, Pride Camp is an overnight resident camp with an emphasis on team building, competitive fun, and offensive and defensive systems. There will be guest speakers, weight training and padded practice.

At Pride Camp, participants will start at 8 a.m. Monday and finish at noon Wednesday. All meals are included. So is a camp T-shirt. Registrations are due no later than June 7 at 8 a.m. Contact Stilling for details.

"Don't let finances interfere with attendance for any of our camps," Stilling said. "Contact me at 578-5020 ext. 2295 with any questions or e-mail kstilling@blaineschools.org.
