Reid Arthur named Valley Club tennis pro

Comes from Klamath Falls

Reid Arthur, 26, has been named the new head tennis professional at The Valley Club, the Sun Valley area's private golf and country club.

Arthur comes from The Vintage Club, a private tennis and golf community at Indian Wells, Ca. Arthur also spent five years directing the junior tennis program and three years overseeing the adults at the Duxbury (Mass.) Yacht Club.

A Klamath Falls, Ore. native, Arthur attended Division 1 Gonzaga University at Spokane, Wash. where he began his freshman campaign playing #1 doubles and #3 singles for the Zags. Arthur's career culminated as a senior when he played both #1 singles and doubles for the Zags and was named team captain.

Before joining the Zags, Arthur was ranked #5 as a junior in the Pacific Northwest. Throughout his high school career, Arthur competed in national and "supernational" tournaments and was invited to play Junior Davis Cup during his junior year at Klamath Union High School.

Arthur has a strong tennis pedigree. His grandfather, father and sister have all played and coached competitively. Arthur's father, Ryk, is currently the head tennis professional at the Harbor Isles Tennis and Fitness Club in Klamath Falls, Ore.

His sister, Jessyca, coaches the men's tennis team at Purchase College in Westchester County, NY. She played collegiate tennis at Division 1 College of William and Mary.

Joining Arthur at The Valley Club this summer is Elliot Jia, a recent graduate of Middlebury College in Vermont. Jia played varsity tennis and squash at Middlebury for four years. Last summer, Jia and Arthur worked together managing a junior program with over 200 active players and helped plan and execute a successful adult program.
