‘Finding Meaning in Challenging Times’

New women’s group offers chance to connect

The challenges of living in the 21st century range from financial stress to environmental issues. Connecting women to understand better coping and learning skills to maintain healthier lives, therapists Shelly Vegwert and Diane Crist will co-facilitate a five-week women's group, "Finding Meaning in Challenging Times: Sharing Ways of Healing for the Body, Mind and Spirit."

"We will focus on healing and finding ways to share and respond to the stresses of life in our times," Vegwert said. "It's worse than ever."

The group's co-facilitators said they want to connect women together through exploring ideas and strategies for flourishing in the midst of personal and environmental chaos.

"This is a group of women sharing with other women," Vegwert said. "We want to emphasize it will be a safe environment for women fostering trust and bonding."

Vegwert said the group would include activities such as handing out the poem "The Guest House" by Rumi to address issues on relationships.

"Interpersonal relationships are very important and it gives people an opportunity to do some soul searching," Vegwert said. "Women are willing to share joys and sorrows. It's a support group."

The group meetings will also include talks about relaxation and breathing. Vegwert said the goal is to be able to process soul searching and sharing together.

The group will meet in Ketchum on Wednesdays, June 2-30, from 6-8 p.m. Cost is $125 and space is limited. For details, call 481-2611.
