It was still spring-like and a little nippy, but nothing a hat, jacket and sweatshirt couldn't cure during the annual East Magic Fishing Derby May 8.

Thirty-four boats took part in the event and had outstanding success in landing the big and small ones.

First-place team was the Missouri Mud (SHARKS) Snake with a collection of 12 fish for the combined weight of 16.88 pounds. Helping captain Kyle Perry were crew Derek Wolfley and Steve Anderson.

The Fish-On team landed second place, eight fish with a total weight of 16.12 pounds. They were captain Mark Fullmer and crew Tyler Pichering and Chad Blinkoe.

Young Rods with captain Dylan Fullmer and crew Morgan Uhrig and Matt Conover were in third place with six fish for 13.20 pounds and the prize for Big Fish of the day—a 5.76-pound German brown trout.

Fourth place went to Englishman with six fish and 10.60 pounds. They were captain Ben Stroud and crew Kip Thomas and Rich Sessor.
