Elgee is better jurist

Doug Werth's recent ads highlight why judges should not have to run campaigns for their positions. He only tries to highlight the negative about an excellent jurist, Bob Elgee. But in attempting to demean a judge who has for 18 years dispensed fair and equal justice to all our citizens, Werth fails to tell the full story.

Werth faults Judge Elgee for costing the county money. The irony of this false allegation is that Werth has not disclosed his own actions that financially harmed the county. Werth was sued for sexual discrimination by a female attorney working in his office during his tenure as Blaine County prosecuting attorney. While the amount paid was not disclosed to the public, the case (Bolton v. Douglas A. Werth, an individual, and Blaine County, Case No. CV00-676) is of public record in the Idaho Federal District Court. Werth may pay lip service to women's rights in his attempt to unseat Judge Elgee, but his actions tell a different story.

In contrast, Judge Robert Elgee has proven his experience, integrity and strength as an excellent district judge. Please vote to re-elect Judge Robert Elgee in the May 25 primary.
