Born April 5, 1987, Alex Patrick Schwab left this earth peacefully for the loving arms of our Lord on April 26, 2010. In the short time he had in this life, Alex filled himself with friendships and family.
His heart was filled with the lives of others. Nothing was more important to him than the happiness of his friends and the love of his family.
Alex lived for his music. Music flowed out of him like the rivers to the sea. He had a lot to say and more often than not, instead of words he spoke melodies and phrases. Without a guitar in his hands, something seemed to be missing.
Alex was also a gifted mechanic. Often by simply listening to an engine he could diagnose a problem or fine-tune a motor to run at peak performance. More than anything, he knew how to listen. You could always count on Alex to hear you.
Alex was a child of the Wood River Valley. His education began at Mrs. Sue's pre-school and continued on to Bellevue Elementary, Hailey Elementary, Wood River Middle School and Wood River High School, where he graduated in 2005. He cherished the friendships he built in those years with adults and peers alike. To Alex, his friends and mentors were his friends for life. He spent two years majoring in music at the University of Idaho before coming home to the place he loved best.
Alex is survived by his mother, Paula Schwab of Bellevue; brother, Sam Schwab; aunt and uncle Jill and Don Perkins of Bellevue; cousins Hope Perkins of Bellevue, Scott (Sue) Zoromski of Holcombe Wisc., Mark (Jill) Zoromski of Grafton, Wisc., Eric (Theresa) Zoromski of Cedarburg, Wisc., cousins Drew and Joe Zoromski of Grafton Wisc., and Luke and Monika Zoromski of Cedarburg, Wisc.; grandfather Gene (Lil) Zoromski of Holcombe, Wisc.; aunt and uncle Michael (Jan) Schwab of Brown Deer, Wisc.; and grandfather Donald (Bev) Schwab of Hayesville, N.C.
He is also survived by his loving Mahoney family: Jerry (Patty) Mahoney of Rochester, Minn., and cousins Tim Mahoney of St. Paul, Minn., Shaun (Stefani) Mahoney of Bellevue, Matt (Carrie) Mahoney of Bellevue, Mary Pat (Dave) Oslund of Minneapolis, Minn., Joe (Amy) Mahoney of Rochester Minn., and and Erin (Stan) Fiorotro of Manhattan Beach, Calif.
Alex is joined in heaven by his father, Patrick Schwab; grandmother, Mary Schwab; grandmother Irene Zoromski; and cousin, Kate Zoromski.
Services were held Sunday, May 2, at Howard Preserve in Bellevue with the loving care of Theresa Gregory officiating. Donations in Alex's memory may be made to the Pat Schwab Memorial Scholarship at the Wood River High School Music Department and to the American Heart Association.
Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some stay awhile and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never the same.
