A first: Hailey track hosts middle school finals

Seven schools put training to a test

For the first time, the Wood River Middle School track and field teams hosted the season-ending Magic Valley Conference track meet May 4 at Wood River High School's Phil Homer field in Hailey.

Best team result for Wood River during the seven-school meet came by the Hailey seventh-grade girls. The young Wolverines (77 points) captured second place behind O'Leary of Twin Falls, which won three of the four team titles at stake.

The four Wood River teams piled up six first places, eight seconds and 13 thirds for the day. Haley Montgomery took the wins in the eighth-grade girls' 800-meter run and 1600m, while seventh-grader Kenya Schott won the 400m and 800m.
