Thanks to beer-maker and impresario Sean Flynn, the Sun Valley Brewery in Hailey has become a steady venue for both local musicians and national acts in the south valley.

On Tuesday, May 11, Flynn's pub will host Irish rockers the Young Dubliners in their first appearance in the Wood River Valley since the 1990s. They will be joined by renowned bagpipe player Eric Rigler.

Rigler is an American player of the pipes who has contributed musical scores for "Titanic," "Million Dollar Baby," "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me," and "Braveheart," to name just a few. He plays the uilleann pipes, great highland bagpipes and tin whistle in the Celtic world fusion band he formed, Bad Haggis, based in Southern California.

Rigler toured through the Rocky Mountains with the Young Dubliners in March, but this will be his first visit to the Wood River Valley.

"I am looking forward to it," he told the Mountain Express. "The show is a bit of a mix. It will be high energy with punked-up Irish rock, but we will take it down for some slower numbers and traditional Irish music."

Rigler will also perform solo, including music from his soundtracks that audience members may recognize from the cinema.

Opening up for the Young Dubliners at 8 p.m. will be jazz and world music artist Kevin Flynn from Salt Lake City. Flynn will play with local musicians Ken Martin and Tim East.

The Young Dubliners and Eric Rigler will play from 9-10:30 p.m.

Diners with concert tickets should contact the brewery at 788-0805 for seats. For more information, go to www.sunvalleybrewery.com.
