Have comments on airport?

Last December, the Blaine County Commissioners selected five people to serve in an advisory capacity with respect to relocating Friedman Memorial Airport. Three members were selected to the Blaine County Airport Advisory Committee based on the County Commission districts in which they live. The other two members were selected from the aviation community and as an at-large advisor. However, regardless of our initial nominating districts or affinity, the intention of the county commissioners was that all five members would represent Blaine County as a whole in advising on decisions related to the relocated airport.

The members of the Airport Advisory Committee believe that one of the primary ways that we can assist the county commissioners and the Friedman Memorial Airport Authority in the airport relocation process is by facilitating communication between the decision-making authorities and county residents. We believe that the success of the airport relocation project in the long term rests in part on open, transparent, two-way communication between the citizens and visitors of Blaine County and the Blaine County Commissioners/Friedman Memorial Airport Authority. We understand that not everyone can attend our public meetings or the monthly Airport Authority meetings to voice their opinions or concerns, and want to make sure that we are not inadvertently excluding valuable input from interested stakeholders.

In furtherance of that goal, the Airport Advisory Committee wants to be available to the community for questions and comments from all persons who would like to contribute their opinions to the airport relocation process or would like to be kept informed as to the progress of the process itself. This will be a dynamic community outreach, which we intend to use primarily as a tool to collect feedback from the community and answer questions on relocation issues. If you have a question or comment, or would like to be added to our notification list, please e-mail us at bcaac@blainecounty.org, and an Airport Advisory Committee member will contact you.

We look forward to working with the community to build a safe, accessible, relocated airport.
