Budding botanists ages four through 10 can learn how gardens grow this summer at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden near Gimlet Road south of Ketchum.
"I like to call it our five-acre outdoor classroom," said Allison Kennedy, education director.
Registration is now being accepted for the Garden's 2010 summer garden camps.
Each month will have a specific emphasis, with classes taking place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Here is the monthly schedule:
Flower Power—From June 14 to 30, children will learn the basics about soil, seeds, the anatomy of flowers and the life cycle of plants.
Pollination: It's the Buzz—From July 12 to 28, the science of pollination will be revealed, highlighting pollinating critters, including bats and birds.
Grown Appetit—From Aug. 2 to 18, Children will grab their shovels and spoons. First, they'll get their hands dirty, harvesting vegetables from the garden. Then, they'll cook meals, such as pizza and stir-fry.
One class costs $25 for members and $35 for non-members, with an entire month's sessions costing $125 for members and $135 for non-members.
