For the past three summers, The Mountain School has provided a unique day camp experience for Wood River valley children. Its program provides a first-hand experience to the school's amazing farm, animals, bountiful gardens and outdoor spaces. The Mountain School beautifully balances the outdoor aspect by intertwining arts, crafts and music.

The Mountain School (TMS) is offerings its fourth year of summer camps from June 21-Aug. 20. Designed for kids ages 4-12, the morning and afternoon sessions encompass ants, farm and garden and lots more.

Throughout the entire summer, the Farming and Permaculture programs introduce the students to simple, ethical and energy efficient living through work with gardening, greenhouse use and animal husbandry.

This practical magic with the school's resident animals (chickens, ducks, goats, rabbits, cow, miniature horses, and honeybees) is  a deep connection for the young or old child.

The Arts program includes: singing, drum talk, cooperative games, painting, sculpture, drama, movement and dance, drawing and handwork.

Wilderness skills are developed by archery, primitive wilderness skills and exploring. All-day Wilderness Camps are offered for ages 9-12 (July 6-16) and ages 7-8 (Aug. 9-13).

Another specialty camp is "Parade Camp" June 21-July 3. Campers enjoy bike art, stilting and hula-hooping in this popular camp that has won prizes in past Hailey Fourth of July parades.

The May Day Open House is Saturday, May 1 from 9:30-11 a.m. for ages 2.5-4 and 10 a.m.-noon for ages 4-12. Meet the farm animals and take a school tour.

The Mountain School's Summer Camp Program has been a success in introducing the school, its idyllic campus and the philosophy of Waldorf education into the community. It provides an environment that sets the foundation for a life-long connection to the environment and balanced living.
