Each summer Boulder Mountain Clayworks gives kids the opportunity to enjoy working with clay and expressing their creativity. This summer, Boulder Mountain Clayworks presents "Alice in Wonderland" for its summer clay camps for kids. The camps will take place July 5-9, 12-16, 19-23 and 26-30 and Aug. 2-6 and 9-13. The camp is open to kids 7 through 12 years old. The cost per camp is $130 and will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

"The idea of "Alice in Wonderland" came from the movie and an ad we have in the office," said Boulder Mountain Clayworks studio manager Lauren Street. "It's a big color ad and it's animated presenting lots of ideas. The possibilities are endless."

Clay camp kids will make five pieces, which are personalized projects based on the "Alice in Wonderland" theme. Art teacher Beth Rogers will return to teach the camp.

Boulder Mountain Clayworks will also have a Teenage Throwing camp for beginners and intermediate throwers ages 13 and over. Beginning throwing will take place July 19-23 and Aug. 2-6 from 1:30-4 p.m. Intermediate throwing will take place July 26-30 from 1:30-4 p.m. The cost is $150.

"We believe that art is one facet of the growth of a human being," Street said. "It is therapeutic to get your hands dirty and create a unique beautiful piece that says a lot."

Boulder Mountain Clayworks is located on the lower level of the 10th Street Industrial Center below the St. Francis Pet Clinic.
