2010 BCRD Summer Youth Program/Day Camp


Now in its 16th year, the fun and affordable day camp for Blaine County youth is located at The Community Campus in Hailey. The Blaine County Recreation District and generous donors from the community have offered the program since 1995. The program provides activities to keep children ages 5-12 busy from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Hundreds of children participated in last year's program.

OPEN REGISTRATION FOR
BCRD DAY CAMP/FRIDAY FUN DAYS

Open registration started Wednesday, April 7 at the Recreation District offices located at The Community Campus in Hailey. Registration forms are available there weekdays from 8-6 and also online at www.bcrd.org. Financial assistance is available. By enrolling for the "Full Summer" you save money. Not only do you get a substantial cost break in the program, but you will have the confidence that your child is being well cared for each day while enjoying a wide variety of positive activities and experiences in age appropriate camper groups. PARENT/CAMPER ORIENTATION NIGHT

Thursday, May 20 at 6 p.m. at The Community Campus, Hailey.

SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM/DAY CAMP

Offered for kids ages 5-12 are supervised sports, arts and creativity, drama and talent shows, archery, biking, cooking, nature hikes, basketball, kids' garden area, soccer, outdoor living skills, and field trips. The staff includes counselors supervised by a camp director.

Days—Mondays through Fridays.

Dates—June 7 through Aug. 27.

Sessions—Three sessions offered: June 7-July 2, July 5-30, and Aug. 2-27.

Times—8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. weekdays.

Optional field trips—Each Friday.

Location—The Community Campus, Hailey.

Eligibility—Boys and girls ages 5-12. You must have completed one year of kindergarten. Activities are separated into boys and girls ages 5-6 (Explorer Camp); ages 7-9 (Discovery Camp); and ages 10-12 (Challenger Camp).

Activities—In addition to the wide array of sports and arts and crafts activities, there are specialty programs like: Supervised biking trips (wear helmet) and a bike safety training course; use of the Pump Park BMX-style track and teaching clinics; climbing trips with trained counselors and staff; the fundamentals of archery; gardening supervised by a volunteer from the Sawtooth Botanical Garden; tennis on the high school courts; and drama class with performances in The Community Campus auditorium.

Simplified fee schedule—Weekly rate is $125 per child. Daily drop-in rate is $30, paid at the office. If you're paying for a full session, the session rate is $450. There are three sessions: June 7-July 2, July 5-30 and Aug. 2-27. If you're paying for the entire summer, the discounted cost is $1,275. You can register for the full-summer, by month or on a week to week basis. Payment can be made in monthly installments through Sept. 2010.

Lunch and other necessities—Campers are responsible for bringing their own lunch and drink. Be sure to provide a water bottle, sunscreen, good shoes and a hat.
