At Zenergy and Montessori camps

Nothing makes children happier than lots and lots and lots of different activities to keep them busy and stimulated during long summer days.

Two local camps have an embarrassment of riches in the variety of activities available to keep little bodies happy and healthy.

Well before you see the pool at Ketchum's Zenergy at Thunder Springs, you can hear the shrieks of children's laughter. But the Zenergy kids camp isn't just about that fabulous pool. Between June 14 and Aug. 27, children ages 4-10 can exhaust themselves in all kinds of ways.

From tennis to kids' yoga to squash to fishing; from kayaking, to golf, to kids' Zumba and even martial arts with Oliver Whitcomb, camp days are packed with choices.

Zenergy camp runs Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The day rate is $40 for members and $45 for non-members. Punch cards are available at a discount. Member punch cards will cost $700 until May 1. It is $800 for non-members.

Punch cards are available at the Zenergy front desk, by calling 725-0595 ext. 170 or emailing ldavies@thunderspring.com.

Punch card purchasers receive priority reservations for activities. The club also offers extended care weekly "theme" camps from 1-3:30 p.m.

At Valley Montessori in Hailey, campers won't have a moment to even think about getting bored.

Offering six sessions, beginning June 7 and running through Aug. 27, Valley Montessori gives children a chance to explore sand, sea and water, perform and sing and even blast off during a space camp.

Daily activities include art, music, practical life, science, free play, language arts and movement. Additional programs are eco farm and nature exploration, red-white-and-blue celebration, and a Gymboree jump party.

Camp is available to children 18 months to five years old and runs from 9 a.m. to noon at the school's location at 1451 Aviation Drive. Extended care is available upon request. Call 788-1429 for further information, to register or to tour the wonderful new facility.
