Summertime at the Wood River Community YMCA in Ketchum offers plenty of opportunities for kids of all ages to stay busy from June through August.

Here are some of the new programs and things to do that have been successful in the past.

Available for kids ages 5-11 are 12 week-long sessions beginning June 7 and running through Aug. 27. The weekly programs delve into subjects such as geography, science, sports, cooking and arts.

The camps run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The cost for the five-day camps, if registered by May 31, is $175 per week for YMCA members and $215 per week for non-members. If registered after May 31, camps cost $190 per week for YMCA members and $230 per week for non-members.

New for this year are programs that allow parents to get in on the fun with their children, including activities such as whitewater rafting, horseback riding, fishing and a barbecue every Wednesday evening.

Popular climbing programs are back as well, with Rock Star Climbing Camp (ages 5-9) starting every week from June 14-Aug. 23. These camps run from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and cost $100 for members and $125 for non-members. There is an additional $10 fee for those who register after May 31.

For kids 10-16, the TNT Climbing Camp includes four weeklong sessions starting June 21 and ending the week of Aug. 16. These programs begin at 1 p.m. and finish at 3 p.m.

Also available are Specialty Workshops, a perennial favorite, are for kids ages 10, 11 or 12 and older, depending on the program. Programs include horseback riding, yoga, whitewater rafting, movie making, cooking and beauty style.

Swimming lessons are also available Monday through Thursday throughout the summer for kids ages 3 and up.
