I find myself writing this wondering why the Idaho Transportation Department can justify spending $2 million on a rest stop but Idaho's budget can't justify a child's education. I'm talking about the Timmerman rest area—I would like to be the contractor who gets the deal on that one. Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for putting in handicap access to the bathrooms, but I think they are a day late and well not a dollar short.
I've lived in the valley for eight years. I have a child in the school system here and I value the education that my child receives. I feel that the rest-area modification should not take priority over the education of our children and that the budget committee should take a closer look at how to appropriate funds.
