Educating the Wood River Valley to many things in nature, the Sawtooth Botanical Garden goes beyond the classroom with its annual bug zoo. In its eighth year, the garden has amassed a collection of insects and spiders from around the world with four varieties of millipedes, a collection of butterflies and the emperor scorpion.
"Bug Zoo 2010: Insects A-Z," will showcase incredible critters and kick off with the Bug Zoo Festival at the garden on Sunday, April 25, from 1-4 p.m. The festival will include games, crafts and fun surprises. The festival is $5 for garden members and $10 for nonmembers.
The Bug Zoo will continue for two weeks following the festival with a free exhibit open to the public Monday through Friday from 1:30-5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The exhibition will end Saturday, May 8.
The Sawtooth Botanical Garden is south of Ketchum at 11 Gimlet Road. For details, call 726-9358 or visit sbgarden.org.
