SVSEF alpine teams hand out awards

Top student athletes for 2009-10 season


Student/athletes from the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation's alpine ski teams received season-ending awards Thursday, April 15 during the annual J1-J3 Intermountain Division teams and C-Travel Team banquet in Ketchum.

Average grade-point average for the entire IMD team was 3.3. Karlee Stagg (3.97 GPA) earned The Academic Award. Those with 3.8 GPAs were Willie Adicoff, Cole Caulkins, Nicole Roos and KJ Savaria.

Longevity Awards went to Willie Adicoff, Bergen Palmer and Karlee Stagg. The "Mountain Kidd" honor was given to Willie Adicoff.

The prestigious Engl Awards were presented to Nicole Roos and Tyler Davis of the J1-J2 IMD squad. Natalie Vorsteveld accepted the Howard Dean Scholarship.

Here are other awards for each team given out last Thursday:

J1-J2 IMD team (ages 15-18): Most Valuable—Karlee Stagg and Bergen Palmer. Most Improved—Teagen Palmer and Harlan Collins. Most Inspirational—Karlee Stagg and Willie Adicoff. Odmark Award—Reta Flynt and Connor Farrow.

J3 IMD team (13-14): Most Valuable—Sofia DeWolfe and KJ Savaria. Most Improved—Jordan Fitzgerald and Ben Kanellitsas. Most Inspirational—Sofia DeWolfe and Ben Kanellitsas.

C-Travel team: Most Valuable—Samantha Busby and Austin Savaria. Most Improved—Loni Unser and Mikey Levy. Most Inspirational—Samantha Busby and Mikey Levy. Odmark Award—Julia Vorsteveld and Yuri McClure.
