The Sun Valley Summer Symphony has arranged to have country music legend Garth Brooks perform at its annual benefit concert on Sunday, Aug. 1, in the Sun Valley Pavilion. Brooks will perform solo and will also perform with the acclaimed Sun Valley Summer Symphony orchestra.

Public ticket information and the procedure for purchasing tickets for the Sun Valley Summer Symphony Benefit Concert will be available in June. Parking, ticketing and general concert information will be available at svsummersymphony.org and sunvalley.com in June. Those interested in attending are advised to wait for further details.

Brooks is an award-winning country music performer. According to the Record Industry Association of America, he is the top-selling solo artist of the 20th century.

Brooks retired in 2001 to raise his family in Oklahoma but announced he was coming out of retirement on Oct. 15, 2009. He entered a five-year "relationship" with Las Vegas hotel owner Steve Wynn to perform a solo show with only his guitar at the Wynn Las Vegas Encore Theater.

Wynn is a Sun Valley resident and his family is part of the Baton Society for the Sun Valley Pavilion, having donated at least $100,000 to the pavilion project. According to a news release from the symphony, Wynn assisted in the arrangements for Brooks to perform for the benefit concert.
