Racquet squad handles Minico 11-1


Wood River High School tennis players kept rolling along in the Great Basin Conference Tuesday, winning a 11-1 team decision over Minico in Rupert. The girls prevailed 6-0 and the boys won 5-1. Hailey players dropped only two sets.

Coach Vicki Johnston's Wood River squad (6-0 dual matches, 4-0 league) goes to the Eastern Idaho Invitational in Idaho Falls today, Friday. Results from Tuesday's league matches on the Rupert courts:

Wood River 11, Minico 1

Boys' singles: #1—Karl Wilander (WR) 6-1, 6-1 over Isaiah Little (M). #2—Jordan Niedrich (WR) 6-3, 6-3 over Truman Peterson (M). #3—Diego Zapata (M) 6-0, 6-2 over Ryan Gelsky (WR).

Girls' singles: #1—Ellen Davis (WR) 6-1, 6-0 over Carianne Chandler (M). #2—Sloan Storey (WR) 6-0, 6-1 over Samantha Halverson (M). #3—Lily Richards (WR) 7-5, 6-4 over Monica Delgado (M).

Boys' doubles: #1—Brendan Freund and R.J. Forgeon (WR) 6-3, 6-1 over Chris Barfuss and Cody Lopez (M). #2—Raleigh Grossbaum and Charlie Grabow (WR) 6-4, 6-1 over Matt Harper and Cameron Jackson (M).

Girls' doubles: #1—Lauren Reutter and Margaret Reutter (WR) 6-0, 6-0 over Bailey Staley and Kara Schmitt (M). #2—Tory Lakey and Erin Murphy (WR) 6-0, 6-2 over Derian Gonzales and Katherine Alverson (M).

Mixed doubles: #1—Morgan Pike and Jessica Hamilton (WR) 6-0, 6-0 over Bo Sanford and Kim Barnes (M). #2—Will Eagan and Hannah Baybutt (WR) 6-1, 6-2 over Luke Osterhout and Lyndia Mittlestadt (M).
