Robert D. Logan

A 43-year-old Sun Valley man admitted in court April 5 to being intoxicated when he caused a vehicle accident last fall that injured himself and two other men.

Robert D. Logan pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI, a felony, before Judge Robert J. Elgee in Blaine County 5th District Court. In exchange for his guilty plea, a second count of aggravated DUI was dismissed.

Elgee advised the defendant that the crime is punishable in Idaho by up to 15 years in prison and a driver's license suspension of one to five years. Conviction of the crime has a minimum punishment of 30 days in jail. Elgee also told Logan that the guilty plea could be used against him if a civil lawsuit is filed because of the accident.

Logan told the judge that he pleaded guilty "because I am guilty—I injured two men while driving under the influence of alcohol." According to court records, Logan's blood alcohol level at the time of the accident was .155, nearly twice the legal limit of .08.

Sentencing was scheduled for May 17.
